In a quiet little street in the heart of Nyon, there is a workshop-boutique for embroiderers that I invite you to discover.
Laurence Lieblich was born into the fabric World – her earliest memories are linked to her father’s textile factory in the Jura and to the embroidery lessons given by her grandmother. As her mother was an art bookbinder, she benefited from an education focused on creativity.
In 2006 she moved to Nyon and decided to take over a small haberdashery, Canevas Folies.

At the beginning, she continued to offer the Garden kits created by the previous owner, then little by little, she widened her offer, going so far as to take courses in Verona with Giuliana Buonpadre to learn Reticello and come to teach it to her customers.
Laurence defines herself as a designer – and not as a saleswoman. In her workshop you can get a thousand and one things for the embroidery practiced here: traditional embroidery, schwalm, reticello, but neither cross stitch nor gold embroidery.
Laurence also offers rare threads such as those from The House of Embroidery (South Africa) or Stef Francis (England). These two houses dye their threads by hand.
What interests Laurence is creation: she shares her models on her blog, where she explains the stitches used. A complete kit is often available at a preferential price, for a short time, before joining the general catalog.
The blog allows you to ask all kinds of questions about the stitches – guaranteed answer! For needle painting models, bloggers even have the option to vote for the model they like.

But what is really unique about Canevas Folies is the group of embroiderers who bring the workshop to life: you can choose to come and take courses over 1 hour, 4 hours, 10 hours or even take a subscription for the year, and join the group of embroiderers in comfortable wicker armchairs: a warm and creative atmosphere guaranteed!

The content of this site is free and is not damaged by un-welcomed publicity. I do this work with love and passion but it requires a lot of time. I would like to continue to offer a wider market to our artists, to show how embroidery is a wonderful art. But I do need a little bit of help. If you feel like it, you can participate with a little donation to help me continue. I will be so grateful! Thank you! Claire
